Blazers Hire Patrick Robey as Head Baseball Coach
Patrick Robey was hired as Head Coach of the Belhaven Blazers’ baseball program, announced on Monday by the Belhaven Athletic Department.
Robey will be taking the job after 10 successful seasons as head coach of Madison Central High School. The Jaguars took home the MHSAA 7A State Championship this past spring, and Robey has led them to three overall state championships in his time at Madison Central.
Following the Jaguars’ 6A State Championship in 2021, Madison Central was named Baseball America’s High School Team of the Year. In addition, Robey was also named the National High School Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
Before arriving at Madison Central, Coach Robey was the Head Coach at Lafayette County High School in Oxford for three seasons, where he led the Commodores to two District Championships in the process.
Belhaven Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Little spoke about the hire of coach Robey and what it means for the program.
“I’ve followed and respected Patrick’s work for years, both his track record with player development and his competitive success,” noted Little. “The more I’ve had the chance to get to know him personally, the more I knew I wanted him to lead our program moving forward. Our young men will benefit greatly from his leadership and coaching both on and off the field.”
As Robey continues his baseball coaching career, he voiced his excitement about being hired to coach for the Belhaven Blazers.
“I’m looking forward to building relationships with our current players, securing the roster, building a staff and everything that running a quality program entails,” he said. “I am thankful for Mr. Scott Little and Dr. Parrott for the vision they have for this university and baseball program. Baseball is baseball, the relationships are what matter the most. I am anxious to start helping these young men continue their athletic, spiritual, and academic journeys.”
