Both Ole Miss Basketball Teams Secure Top 25 Rank

The University of Mississippi’s basketball programs are making waves this season, with the men’s and women’s teams earning spots in the prestigious NCAA Top 25 rankings.

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team has climbed to No. 17 in the latest rankings, a small but significant jump. The Rebels, led by head coach Kermit Davis, have been dominant on both sides of the ball, showcasing a balanced offense and a tough defense that has earned them respect across the nation. The team currently sits at 10-1, with their only loss being against No. 12 Purdue. Even in this game, it was barely a loss, as the final score was 78-80. Conference play starts up for the men’s team on January 4th, where they face off against the Georgia Bulldogs in Oxford.

Meanwhile, the Ole Miss women’s basketball team, led by head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, has secured the final spot in the Top 25, coming in at No. 25. This marks a notable achievement for the Rebels as they continue to build on their success and establish themselves as a formidable force in the SEC. The women’s team currently sits with a record of 7-3, and their losses are similar to that of the men’s team. Their first loss was to No.3 USC, trailing short by only two points of 66-68. Their second loss was against No. 2 ranked opponent UConn. When the lady Rebels went up against NC State, they fell short once again, losing 61-68 to the NC team.

Both teams’ inclusion in the Top 25 rankings marks a proud moment for Ole Miss athletics, showing the program’s commitment to excellence and the growing success of its basketball teams. As both squads continue their campaigns, fans and supporters of the Rebels are excited to see just how far these talented teams can go this season.
