Delta State Claims Top 20 Spot in Poll
As the crisp breeze of early spring blows across the South, baseball season is officially in full swing, and fans across the region are gearing up for another exciting year. In the heart of the South, baseball is not just a sport—it’s a tradition, and at the college level, it brings the community together like few other things can. From small towns to major cities, college baseball is a major deal, drawing fans to the stands and filling hearts with excitement and pride. One program that has been consistently at the top of the college baseball scene in the South is Delta State University, whose baseball team has once again made waves by claiming a spot in the Top 20 of the latest national baseball polls.
Delta State University’s baseball team has earned a spot in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Poll, ranking No. 20. With an 8-3 record, the Statesmen have gotten off to a strong start, defeating back-to-back ranked opponents in Lee University and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. This is the first time Delta State has cracked the Top 25 since May 2022, when the team ranked 25th. With momentum on their side, the Statesmen are looking to continue their impressive run this season.
