Emma Jensen Electrifies Northwest Soccer’s 11-0 Season
With a scorching 11-0 record this season and a 33-game winning streak stretching back to last season, Northwest Rangers are proving themselves unbeatable. At the center of their perfect run is a familiar name for Rangers fans: midfielder Emma Jensen.
A standout in her freshman 2024 season, Jensen was named MACCC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year. This fall, she has honed her skills even further. Through 11 matches, she leads the Rangers in nearly every offensive category, claiming 18 goals, 45 shots, 36 shots on goal, and a .800 shot on goal percentage.
Jensen set the bar early this season, seemingly effortlessly scoring goals in the first two minutes of back-to-back mercy-rule victories over Neosho County and Mineral Area. Unfazed as competition heated up further in the season, Jensen continued her streak with a brace against Northeast (Neb.), including a neatly slotted penalty and a team-play goal set up by Kassidy McMillan.
Jensen made history at the Rangers game against Itawamba, where she tied and then almost immediately broke the all-time career goals record at Northwest. In the first 28 minutes of game play, Jensen surpassed Elyse Lovelace’s 2006 mark of 37 goals with a pair of calculated strikes. That second kick, a 24-yard powerhouse strike that marked Jensen’s 38th goal, has cemented her place in Northwest history.
Though a singular talent, Jensen is very much a team player. Molly Thompson, Caroline Perkins, Joline Knevel, and Allie Sifford (whose four assists in the Mineral Area match turned heads) have all delivered in key moments.
As a team, the Rangers have outscored opponents by nearly unbelievable margins, with wins like 12-0 over East Mississippi, 11-0 over Mineral Area, and 10-0 over No. 14 St. Louis Community College.
Success for the Rangers isn’t always easy— like in the recent 6-0 win over East Central, where it took 40 minutes to open the scoring — but Northwest knows how to stay composed. Now, with increasing hype and postseason play in clear view, the Rangers surely feel increased pressure to deliver. With Jensen at their offensive helm, the Rangers have a good shot at meeting and exceeding their goals.
Northwest will face Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday, October 10 at 4 p.m. Central, hoping to maintain their unblemished record.
