Former Golden Eagle Michael Fowler Signs Free Agent Deal With Brewers
Right-handed pitcher Michael Fowler became the fifth Southern Miss Golden Eagle from this past season’s baseball squad to sign a professional contract.
Fowler signed a free agent deal with the Milwaukee Brewers of the MLB recently after spending a period of time this summer with the Mississippi Mud Monsters of the Frontier League, a partner league of the MLB. In his time with the Mud Monsters, Fowler appeared in seven games and racked up a 1.93 ERA over 9 1/3 innings pitched, striking out 15 posting a 2-1 record.
After spending the last four years at LSU and Tulane, Fowler came to Hattiesburg for his final collegiate season. He played in 10 games as a Golden Eagle and didn’t post a record, throwing for a 9.39 ERA in 7 2/3 innings along with striking out nine and walking eight batters.
Fowler’s longest outing of the season was when he notched a two inning shutout versus South Alabama on Mar. 30 where retired four batters. He also struck out three in a 1 1/3 inning outing at Mississippi State on Mar. 5. Fowler also made Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2025 semester.
Fowler has yet to be assigned to a Brewers farm club so far, but will look to make a statement once he reaches his destination.
