Jackson State Football Leads All HBCUs in Latest NCAA Graduation Success Rate Report

Jackson State football continues to dominate far beyond the field according to the NCAA’s newest Graduation Success Rate (GSR). The report tracks student-athletes who entered college in 2018 and measures academic outcomes across each program.

In the GSR report released last Wednesday, JSU football boasted an 84% GSR. The Tigers secured the highest mark among all HBCUs and third overall in the state of Mississippi, behind Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Jackson State’s athletics department achieved an impressive overall GSR of 88%, placing JSU among the top-performing programs nationally and first among HBCUs.

Across the athletics department, 5 Jackson State teams earned perfect GSR scores: men’s tennis, women’s basketball, women’s bowling, softball, and women’s tennis. Women’s soccer and volleyball also achieved 91% marks.

The latest numbers continue an upward national trend. Since its introduction more than 20 years ago, the GSR has climbed steadily from an initial 74% in 2002, with student athletes now consistently surpassing the 80% benchmark..

JSU football is 9-2 this season, ranked #1 in the SWAC East conference. Now, they can add an 84% GSR to their success metrics.
