Meet Co-Lin’s Dynamic Duo: Alvaro De La Torre & Francisco Miquel

Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s soccer team boasts two outstanding forward players who consistently show up on the field. Meet Alvaro De La Torre & Francisco Miquel, who are responsible for a total of 14 goals this season.

Alvaro De La Torre, originally from A Coruna, Spain, has been dominating his freshman year. The forward player has started nine games during his time at Co-Lin. While starting nine games, he has scored seven goals, five of which were in conference play. Of his seven goals, three have been game-winning goals, showing he is able to perform well under pressure. Not only is he a goal machine, but he is also responsible for five assists.

His statistics are similar to his forward partner, Francisco Miquel. Miquel is from Bogota, Columbia and is enjoying his sophomore season at Co-Lin. He has started all 10 games this year, and put up the same amount of goals as Alvaro. Of his seven goals, five were also in conference play. He is responsible for three assists and two game-winning goals.

Both players recently showed out in their game against East Central. Co-Lin was close to sweeping East Central with a final score of 5–1. Francisco was responsible for goals in the 18th minute and 71st minute, while Alvaro was responsible for a goal in the 51st minute and 69th minute.

Credit needs to be given to Copiah-Lincoln Community College for recruiting two talented forward soccer players to strengthen their team. Alvaro De La Torre’s addition to the team not only allows for him to showcase his own talent, but also lift up his teammates around him.
