Mississippi Women’s State Golf Ranked in Top 15
The No. 12 Mississippi State women’s golf team is set to compete in the Chevron Collegiate Invitational in Humble, Texas, hosted by the University of Houston. The Bulldogs will kick off their tournament at 8 a.m. CT on the Golf Club of Houston’s par-72 course, which spans 6,203 yards.
All six Bulldogs will participate, with five in the main lineup and one playing individually. The two-day event will feature rounds one and two on the opening day.
Leading the way for Mississippi State is Avery Weed, who will head up the lineup. In her sophomore season, Weed boasts a 71.33 stroke average and is currently 10-under par on the year.
Izzy Pellot will follow Weed in the second spot. Pellot recently tied for third at the PDI Intercollegiate, her best career finish, shooting 9-under par, which matched her career-best against par.
Chiara Horder will compete in the middle of the lineup. She recorded her best score as a Bulldog in her last tournament, finishing 3-under par—her best performance since the 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional.
Ana Pina Ortega will take the fourth spot in the lineup. She too had a career-best performance at the PDI Intercollegiate, finishing 7-under par, including a career-low 67 (-5) in the final round.
Rounding out the Bulldogs’ five-person lineup is Surapa Janthamunee. SJ posted a 2-under finish at the PDI Intercollegiate, marking her first under-par result of the season and her first since a 10th-place finish at last year’s NCAA Bermuda Run Regional.
Competing individually for Mississippi State is Samantha Whateley. The sophomore shot her best round of the season at the PDI Intercollegiate, carding a 3-under 69 in the second round, marking the second time in her career she has shot a round in the 60s.
