Must-Watch Mississippi Football this Weekend (And Where to Watch It)

Mississippi football fans have a packed day tomorrow, with high-stakes games across the SEC, SWAC, and Sun Belt. Here’s a quick rundown of who’s playing, what’s on the line, and where to tune in.

Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. University of Tennessee Volunteers

When: Saturday, September 27th @ 3:15 pm (central)

What’s at Stake: Mississippi State is off to a 4-0 start for the first time in a decade, including a major win over then-No. 12 Arizona. But now, SEC play begins— a true test of MSU’s comeback.

Why It Matters: The SEC is college football’s most competitive conference. This game will determine MSU’s season outlook.

Where to Watch: Check SEC Network listings.

University of Mississippi vs. Louisiana State University Tigers

When: Saturday, September 27th @ 2:30 pm (central)

What’s at Stake: A classic SEC rivalry. Last year’s game was too close for comfort for both teams, leaving LSU with a narrow victory (29 points) and Ole Miss with a frustrating loss (Ole Miss 26). This season both teams seem evenly matched, but Ole Miss enters without former QB Jaxson Dart (now with the NY Giants).

Why It Matters: Ole Miss and LSU constantly vie for SEC dominance. Now that opening games are under both teams’ belts, this matchup will test who’s the best in the conference.

Where to Watch: ABC and ESPN.

Jackson State Tigers vs. Southern University Jaguars

When: Saturday, September 27th @ 6:00 pm (central)

What’s at Stake: Jackson State is ranked No. 3 in the SWAC East and favored to win this matchup, even though they won’t have home field advantage.

Why It Matters: A victory here strengthens JSU’s chances for a postseason run.

Southern Miss Golden Eagles vs. Jacksonville State Gamecocks

When: Saturday, September 27th @ 6:00 pm (central)

What’s at Stake: Southern Miss enters with a No. 1 ranking in the Sun Belt Conference. The Golden Eagles currently have a 2-2 record, matching Jacksonville State’s. This is a crucial game for holding onto their top spot.

Why It Matters: Conference rankings are close, and  a loss here would shake up the SBC standings.
