Ole Miss Men’s Golf Earns First No. 1 Ranking in Program History

For the first time in program history, the Ole Miss men’s golf program has earned the No. 1 ranking in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd National Collegiate Golf Rankings. Ole Miss has arguably accomplished its biggest milestone with this No. 1 rank. This is a major achievement, as being ranked first in the nation is the highest a team can go. The Rebels secured the top position in the poll following a historic fall season, winning their last two tournaments of the year.

The Rebels began their season with victory. During their opening weekend, Cameron Tankersley and Kyle Meeks both set new career-low 54-hole scores in Knoxville, Tennessee. Tankersley finished solo second with a score of 202 (-8) while Meeks finished solo seventh with a score of 205 (-5).

Success continued into September, where Ole Miss was in a highly competitive tournament in San Antonio  Here, Ole Miss faced off against No. 1 Auburn, No. 3 Virginia, and No. 4 Vanderbilt. Despite high stakes, three Rebels placed inside the top 15. The Rebel’s very own Cohen Trolio finished fourth and tied his career-low 54-hole best of 206 (-10).

The Rebel’s did not slow down in October. Here, they competed in the Hamptons Intercollegiate tournament. Not only did the team finish with a 54-hole score of 838 (-26), but Michael La Sasso was able to secure his first individual title shooting 201 (-15), leading the field by 11 strokes.
Lastly, the Rebels dominated at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational Oct. 19-21. The team posted a score of 844 (-20), marking the first back-to-back team victories since the 2016 season. This achievement came at the hands of four Rebels, who finished inside the top 10. Senior Kyle Meeks shines with a T2 finish.
Congratulations to Ole Miss’s men’s golf team for this huge achievement!
