Ole Miss’s Historic, Messy Season Ends with Loss

Ole Miss’ historic season ended in disappointment last night with a 31–27 loss to No. 10 Miami, a bittersweet finish that underscores the team’s resiliency in the face of coaching chaos while dashing their hope of a championship title.

Ole Miss went 13–1 in the regular season, undefeated in non-conference play and at home (9–0). After earning their first College Football Playoff spot, despite the late-season departure of head coach Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss advanced past No. 11 Tulane with ease. Then, in a triumphant post-season high, beat No. 3 Georgia. in a 39–34 nail biter that saw Ole Miss defeat the only team to hand them a loss in the regular season.

Against Miami, Ole Miss just couldn’t maintain their momentum.

Though the loss is, of course, a heavy blow, Ole Miss can take pride in their historic CFP presence. The 2026 season will likely provide the team with the coaching stability needed to help them take on the CFP again–and win.
