Pearl River Football Finishes Staff Ahead of 2025 Season

Pearl River football has rounded out its coaching staff for the 2025 campaign with the hire of Blaise Breerwood.

Breerwood will be taking on the responsibility of the running back room, joining after graduating from Mississippi College with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology as well as playing baseball for two seasons with the Choctaws.

Prior to joining Mississippi College, Breerwood also played two seasons with Pearl River and won the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award, so he’s very familiar with Poplarville.

“I’m blessed and excited. It’s a great opportunity. I’ve played baseball my entire life and had football experience in high school,” Breerwood said following his hire. “I wanted to get away from baseball once I was done with it and go into something else that I love, and that’s football.”

Although Breerwood spent his time in college playing baseball, he is also very familiar with the game of football. In high school, he was a quarterback as well as a defensive back at Poplarville High School. In his time with the team, the Hornets three-peated with South State Championships.

Head Coach of Pearl River football Seth Smith made remarks after hiring Breerwood.

“We are extremely excited about adding Blaise to our staff. He’s been a winner his entire life,” Smith said. “…One of his best attributes is his ability to connect with people. Coach Breerwood is a ray of light. He always brings positive energy and elevates the room. That connectivity and energy will make him a great recruiter and developer of talent.

“We are pumped he has decided to come home and help us achieve our goals. He’s a future star in this profession, and we’re glad he’s a Wildcat.”

Pearl River begins its 2025 football campaign on August 28 at home where they will face off against Northwest Mississippi.
