Pearl River Has Dominating 120 Point Performance

The Pearl River men’s basketball team showcased an all-around offensive performance Thursday afternoon, defeating Community Christian College 120-69. All 11 Wildcats scored in the game, with seven players reaching double figures. The team now sits comfortably with an overall 10-3 record.

Despite the final score, Pearl River didn’t take its first lead until the 13-minute mark of the first half. Pearl River went up by 20 points at the 3:19 mark in the first half when Krystian Lewis drained a 3-pointer after a pass from Watkins Jr. A few plays later, the lead was at 21 points for Pearl River. The Wildcats continued to pour it on in the second half, with their advantage growing to 23 points with just under 13 minutes remaining. Joah Chappelle (Atlanta, Ga.; Dutchtown) electrified the crowd with a powerful dunk off a pass from Mason Lewis (Stockbridge, Ga.; Woodland), pushing the score to 70-47. Jamarion Smith (Magnolia; South Pike) followed with another basket, making it 72-48. Krystian Lewis and Joah Chappelle shared the team lead in scoring, each finishing with 17 points.

Pearl River’s depth and balanced scoring make them a team to watch this season, as they have multiple players capable of stepping up offensively. With seven players reaching double digits in the win over Community Christian, the Wildcats’ ability to spread the ball and contribute from all positions sets them apart. Defensively, they’ve shown the capability to press, disrupt, and get out in transition, making them dangerous on both ends of the floor. As they continue to build chemistry and sharpen their game, Pearl River has all the pieces to make a deep run.
