Pearl River Women’s Basketball is Shining

The Pearl River Community College women’s basketball team is having a season to remember. With a 12-1 record, the Wildcats are showing no signs of slowing down as they continue dominating both ends of the floor. It is a campaign that has exceeded expectations, with the Wildcats winning games and doing so in impressive fashion, proving they are a force to be reckoned with in their upcoming MACCC matchups.

From the very beginning of the season, Pearl River has been on fire. The team’s first victory almost broke the 100-point mark, where they defeated their opponent 94-25. What stands out the most about this Pearl River team is its ability to adapt and dominate offense (putting up 94 points) and defense (holding the other team to 25). Shortly after, they did break the 100-point mark, with a 102-49 victory over Enterprise State Community College.

With a stellar 12-1 start, the Wildcats have established themselves as one of the most formidable teams in the region. Their lone loss came in a close contest, but since then, they’ve been relentless, showing off their high-powered offense, stingy defense, and incredible team depth.

This can be seen in their first conference matchup against Coahoma Community College. CCC is an impressive team, one that Inferno just did an article on. Because both teams came into their first conference game with such great records, Pearl River’s being 11-1 and CCC’s being 10-1, the matchup was going to be intense. And that it was. Pearl River ended up taking home their victory with a final score of 57-46, even without the home-court advantage. Although the score may not reflect it, Pearl River’s head coach states that “tonight looked like both teams had played 10 games in the division already.”

Despite the loss for  CCC, they are still a team that we should keep on our radar. Their next game is going to be this Saturday against Blue Mountain Christian University. This is not a conference game. Pearl River’s next game will be tomorrow, Thursday, January 16 at 5:30 PM. This will be a conference game against East Central Community College.
