Coahoma Community College’s women’s basketball team is playing exceptionally, leaving no doubt about their dominance in the HBCU basketball landscape.
With a 10-1 record heading into conference play, they have been virtually unstoppable since their first win on November 2nd. Their offensive firepower is on full display, with several games where they have scored over 80 points, showcasing their fast-paced, high-scoring style. On the flip side, their defense has been suffocating, holding opponents to a jaw-dropping number of points in the 30s. This kind of two-way dominance is what makes a basketball team win. But Coahoma is not just winning, they are controlling games. Their early-season success dwarfs that of other HBCU women’s teams, with teams like Jackson State (3-9), Alcorn State (2-10), and Mississippi Valley State (1-12) struggling to find any consistency.
As they now enter the next phase of their season with conference play starting on January 9th against Mississippi Delta Community College, the expectations for Coahoma are sky-high, and their dominant form has many believing they could be a force to reckon with across all of HBCU basketball. Simply put, “dominating” doesn’t even do justice to how far ahead of the pack Coahoma currently is.
Tune into this team and pay attention- they have big things ahead of them.
