Tigers’ Rowell Finishes Season at NCAA Track and Field Championships
Jackson State’s Ledamian Rowell has had a career year that led to him competing in the men’s triple jump at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Before attending Jackson State, Rowell spent the 2022-23 season at William Carey, where he claimed 1st place in the SSAC outdoor track and field championships in the triple jump with a 14.73m mark. Also, he took 2nd and 3rd team All-Conference honors for triple jump and high jump for the 2022-23 indoor track and field season.
In the SSAC indoor track and field championships, Rowell posted a 2nd place finish after recording a mark of 15.12m in the triple jump.
In 2024, Rowell came to Jackson State and continued his extraordinary track and field career. At the SWAC Track and Field Championships, he took 1st place in the triple jump and qualified for the NCAA East First Round for triple jump.
Throughout the 2024 season, Rowell won 1st place in high jumps at the Louisiana Tech Jim Maze Invitational (2.05m), 2nd place in triple jump at the Bulldog Alumni Relays (14.80m), 2nd place in long jumps at the Samford Bulldog Invite 2024 (6.98m) and a 2nd place triple jump finish at the Georgia Tech Invitational (15.72m).
Now, this season, Rowell achieved a new personal best during the triple jump event at NCAA East Regionals with a leap of 15.99 meters. The jump allowed him to qualify for his first trip to Nationals. He also placed in the top 25 for the long jump.
Rowell was the only Tiger to travel for the NCAA finals in 2025, and he finished with great perseverance. He finished 19th overall in the men’s triple jump with a 15.15m leap to close out the season. Rowell’s achievements during his track and field career will forever be remembered not only at Jackson State but also at William Carey.
