Week One of MACCC Football Season to Begin August 28
The 2025 NJCAA college football season is almost here as 14 teams in the MACCC will battle for a Region 23 Championship beginning Thursday, Aug. 28. Here are the match ups in the MACCC to kick off the year:
Coahoma Community College will begin its season on the road versus Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Coahoma is coming off a 2024 season where they went 0-9, and will now begin a new era with first-year head coach Larry Williams.
Southwest Mississippi also begins a new era with first-year head coach Les George, kicking off against Holmes who is coming off a strong 7-3 season. Holmes looks to continue momentum as Marcus Wood enters his third season leading the Bulldogs.
Northeast Mississippi travels to East Central who is led by head coach Jonathan Webster. The Warriors are coming off a strong 2024 campaign where they posted an 8-3 record as well as reaching the Region 23 Tournament Championship.
Defending MACCC Region 23 champion Northwest hits the road to face Pearl River in Poplarville. Northwest is led by head coach Benjy Parker who has guided the Rangers to three of the last five MACCC Region 23 championships and has built a perennial powerhouse in Senatobia.
Jones College travels to face Mississippi Delta as the Bobcats are led by first-year head coach Lytrel Pollard, who served six seasons as defensive coordinator and the last three as an assistant coach at Jones before being promoted. Mississippi Delta also will be playing under new interim head coach Earnest T. Jones as both teams have something to prove.
Hinds faces Itawamba in Fulton to begin the season with East Mississippi traveling to Mississippi Gulf Coast to round out the first week of contests. Jack Wright enters his eighth season leading Gulf Coast where the Bulldogs have posted a 53-13 record with Wright at the helm, including an impressive 8-2 mark in 2024.
