Battle of the HBCU’s
Jackson State University’s baseball team is off to a strong start in the 2025 season, with a 13-7 overall record and an impressive 5-0 mark at home. The team has been dominant on their home field, showing resilience and skill in front of their fans. Their solid performance reflects the talent and depth on the roster, and they’ve been executing well in all facets of the game—hitting, pitching, and defense.
Recently, the Tigers secured a win over Tougaloo College, another HBCU in Mississippi. This victory was significant, not just for the win itself, but for the momentum it gives Jackson State as they look to build on their early season success. The game showcased their ability to handle competition from within the state, and the Tigers’ performance against Tougaloo highlighted their strength, especially in high-pressure moments.
The pitching staff has been a major asset this season, with the starting rotation providing consistent outings and the bullpen coming in to close out games effectively. Offensively, Jackson State has shown depth with several players stepping up to produce runs, making them a tough team to face from top to bottom of the lineup.
With a 5-0 record at home, Jackson State has made its home field a fortress, and this early success sets the stage for a competitive SWAC season. The team will look to carry this momentum into upcoming games, as they continue to build chemistry and push toward their ultimate goal of winning the SWAC championship.
