Mississippi State Men Fall in March Madness
Mississippi State narrowly lost to Baylor 75-72 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The game featured multiple lead changes and ties, reflecting the evenly matched competition between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds.
With 9.3 seconds remaining, Baylor’s V.J. Edgecombe sank two crucial free throws, extending their lead. Mississippi State had an opportunity to tie the game but missed its final three-point attempt.
Baylor’s Rob Wright led all scorers with 19 points, while Mississippi State’s Josh Hubbard contributed a game-high 26 points. Rebounding played a significant role, with Baylor out-rebounding Mississippi State 32-26.
