Bulldogs Celebrate Dual Buzzer-Beating Victories in Football, Fútbol

Shapen, Bulldogs Rally for First SEC Win in Two Years

Mississippi State snapped a 4-game losing streak with a 38–35 comeback victory over Arkansas, marking their first SEC conference win since 2023.

Quarterback Blake Shapen connected with Anthony Evans III for an 18-yard touchdown with only 51 seconds left in the game, wrapping a fourth-quarter rally in which the Bulldogs erased a 14-point deficit.

Shapen, who briefly left after a third-quarter hit, completed 16 of 28 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Backup Kamario Taylor also brought the heat by leading two scoring drives: one capped with a 45-yard touchdown pass to Evans, the other with a 20-yard touchdown run.

The win moved Mississippi State to 5–4 overall and 1–4 in SEC play, giving the Bulldogs confidence ahead of this week’s home clash with Georgia this Saturday, November 8th.

Borman’s Late Goal Sends MS Soccer to SEC Quarterfinals

In Pensacola, freshman midfielder Tatum Borman scored in the 89th minute to clinch State’s 1–0 victory over Oklahoma. The Bulldogs will now advance in the SEC Tournament.

Borman came off the bench and made an immediate impact, firing off three shots (all on frame) that culminated with her unassisted winner. Despite the close score, Mississippi State (11–5–1, 5–4–1 SEC) dominated from the start, outshooting the Sooners and controlling 67% possession in the first half.

“I’m really proud of the way we played tonight,” head coach Nick Zimmerman said. “We played our style of football.”

The victory set new program tournament records for shots (22) and shots on goal (11), and marked the latest regulation game-winner in MSU postseason history. The Bulldogs now turn their focus to No. 4 Arkansas on Tuesday, November 4th, with the match airing on the SEC Network.
