It is no surprise that James Armstrong, Mississippi State’s women’s soccer coach, has won ‘SEC Coach of the Year’. He has successfully led the Bulldogs to an undefeated SEC season, No. 2 national ranking, No. 1 SEC ranking, and countless other record-breaking feats this 2024 season.

As Armstrong wins ‘SEC Coach of the Year’, his players are not far behind him. Various players on Armstrong’s team follow him in this light, as Bulldog midfielder Macey Hodge has won ‘SEC Midfielder of the Year’. Teammate Rylie Combs has won ‘SEC Defender of the Year’ alongside their goalie, Maddy Anderson, who has won ‘SEC Goalkeeper of the Year’.

He has coached and lead this team to amazing victories in this 2024 season. The season is still continuing as the SEC tournament takes place starting tomorrow (Nov 5). The team is currently on a 13 game win streak and will perform at the SEC tournament in Pensacola, Florida. Their first matchup is against the No. 9 seed Tennessee. With the momentum of their impressive season, individual accolades, and coaching awards, the Bulldogs are set to make a good run in this tournament. The team’s dedication and Armstrong’s leadership will be crucial as they face Tennessee.
