First Time SEC Champions: Mississippi State Women’s Golf

For the first time in Mississippi State women’s golf program history, they are the 2024 SEC champions.

The Bulldogs claim their first conference trophy after defeating Texas A&M in their most recent tournament. With this victory that came on Tuesday, Mississippi State became the 11th team since 2000 to win both the individual and team title in the same season. Notable player Julia Lopez Ramirez is responsible for making this statistic possible, as she won the individual championship on Sunday, her second straight.

Now the maroon and white Bulldogs can call themselves SEC champions in golf. This is a huge moment for the program and created history for Mississippi State athletics. The Bulldogs will continue their postseason play with NCAA regionals which start May 3.
