Five Former Rebels Named in Updated MLB Prospect Rankings
Major League Baseball’s MLB Pipeline has released its updated Top 30 Prospect Lists for each team this week and five former Ole Miss Rebels were selected to the lists.
Luke Hill was ranked as the No. 27 prospect for the Cleveland Guardians organization after he was selected in the 2025 MLB Draft in the fourth round. Hill started for the Rebels in 63 games during the 2025 season, almost all of them at third base. He notched a team-high in batting average (.336), on base percentage (.459), hits (82), and runs scored (66).
The next player higher up is Jacob Gonzalez who is ranked as the No. 17 prospect in the Chicago White Sox organization. He played his way up to Triple-A recently and was named the Southern League Player of the Week in May and was promoted to Triple-A on July 26.
Next up is Gunnar Hoglund who is listed as the No. 16 ranked prospect in the Athletics organization. He made his Major League debut on May 2 with the A’s and gave up only one run over a six inning stretch with seven strikeouts vs. the Miami Marlins.
The fourth player ranked on the list is Mason Morris, the highest draft pick out of Ole Miss in 2025. He debuts as the No. 15 ranked prospect in the Cincinnati Reds organization and was a third-round pick as well as the first college player the Reds took in the draft. Working as the primary long relief option for the Rebels in 2025, Morris marked a 5-1 record with a 3.29 ERA and 78 strikeouts over the span of 54.2 frames.
The highest ranked Rebel in the Top 30 Prospect Lists is Kemp Alderman, sitting as the No. 11 ranked prospect within the Miami Marlins organization. He is also the second-highest ranked Marlins Double-A player, being named the Southern League Player of the Week three times during the 2025 season. During the stretch, Alderman has racked up a .291 batting average with 12 home runs, 158 bases and 45 RBIs in 93 contests for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
