Co-Lin Hires Kyle Flessner to Lead Baseball Team
Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s athletic department has announced the hire of Kyle Flessner as the new head coach of the baseball program. Flessner worked for Co-Lin last season as an assistant coach, primarily helping with pitching.
Flessner graduated from Rantoul Township High School where he played baseball, pitching and playing in the outfield. After finishing high school, he went on to attend Kankakee Community College where he played baseball from 2015-17. The Cavaliers won the 2017 NJCAA Division II National Championship with Flessner at pitcher.
After graduating from Kankakee and eventually earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Purdue University Northwest, Flessner took a job at East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss. as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. The Warriors would go on to capture back-to-back NJCAA Division II World Series appearances, becoming MACCC and Region 23 Champions in 2023 and reaching No. 1 in the entire nation in 2024.
Co-Lin President Dr. Dewayne Middleton spoke on what Flessner has shown in his time so far with the team which led to his hire.
“Coach Kyle Flessner has shown an unwavering commitment to our student-athletes and to the vision of our baseball program,” Middleton said. “He has fully embraced what it means to be part of the Co-Lin family, and I am confident he will continue to build on the strong tradition of excellence we’ve established.”
Flessner voiced his excitement about taking on the role of head coach at Co-Lin.
“Co-Lin has been incredibly welcoming to me and been somewhere that I’m happy to call home,” Flessner said. “The community here is unbelievable is unbelievable with the support. I can’t wait to get to work with our players, our administration, and all the individuals bought in to keep Co-Lin in the wonderful position that it’s in. The possibilities here are endless.”
