Jones College Soccer GOAT Sherline King Named Player of the Year

Sherline King’s record-setting sophomore season at Jones College just earned her one of the highest individual honors in junior college soccer.

United Soccer Coaches announced its 2025 Player of the Year recipients on Tuesday, and King was named the Junior College Division II Player of the Year. Both she and the Bobcats have achieved a record-setting year.

King scored a school-record 29 goals during the season, including eight game-winners, and finished her two-year Jones College career with 54 goals: the most in program history.

She can also add two four-goal performances and a five-goal match in a road win over East Mississippi to her long list of impressive 2025 moments..

One of King’s four-goal games helped Jones College upset No. 1-ranked Johnson County (Kan.) on November 18th, helping Jones College advance to the NJCAA national semifinals. The loss was the only defeat of the season for Johnson County, which finished the year 21-1-1.

As a team, Jones College finished the season 14-6-2 and reached its fourth national semifinal appearance in five NJCAA Tournament trips. 2025 was another great season for the Bobcats, and with some upcoming roster changes, fans are hoping Jones College can keep up their momentum during the 2026 season.

A sophomore from Panama City, Panama, King has also been named MACCC Player of the Year, NJCAA All-Region 23, First Team All-MACCC, NJCAA First Team All-American, and earned MACCC Player of the Week honors twice.

King is only the second Jones College athlete to earn United Soccer Coaches Player of the Year recognition, joining Celine Ottah, who won the award in 2023.

King will be making a triumphant exit from Mississippi, having signed with Oklahoma State University.
