Northwest Ranger’s Rodeo Coach Will Lummus Claims Reserve World Champion Title
Northwest Mississippi Community College rodeo head coach Will Lummus snagged yet another Reserve World Champion title at the 2025 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, finishing as the Reserve World Champion. His 2025 title is his fourth in five years.
Lummus, making his eighth career appearance at the rodeo’s most prestigious event, delivered a lower scoring performance than he has in years past, ultimately placing 15th in the average standings with seven qualified catches. Though, Lummus delivered his consistently fast times.
Despite some setbacks, Lummus’ season earnings of $334,833 were enough to secure second place in the world standings, finishing just ahead of Jesse Brown. The 2025 world champion, Tucker Allen, closed the season with nearly $400,000 after winning the NFR average and the gold buckle.
Lummus delivered several standout performances on the Las Vegas dirt. In Round 4, he split the fastest time for a round win after throwing the steer in 4.0 seconds.
He also recorded competitive finishes throughout the finals, including top-three runs in Rounds 2 and 5, a fourth-place run in Round 6, a tie for second in Round 9, and a third-place finish in the final round.
Lummus’ champion status as one of rodeo’s top steer wrestlers will deepen his ethos as mentor of the NWCC rodeo program.
