Jones Tennis Team Moves Up Ranking

Jones tennis does not shy away from competition. The men’s No.13 team recently defeated their fierce competitor, No. 18 Coastal Alabama-South.

Although the teams were equally ranked, Jones men’s team had no trouble winning their matchup. With a 6-3 win on Wednesday afternoon, the Bobcat tennis team swept the double matches and won overall in singles. Matias Ruiz won in his singles match (6-3, 6-1), and Charlie Brady was victorious (6-2, 6-1) against his opponent. Similarly, Duvan Santiago Torres won his singles match 6-1, 6-1. After serving this victory, the Jones men team is now the highest rated team in Mississippi (No. 11) according to the JCOU ITA National Ranking.

Similarly, the women’s tennis team at Jones is now ranked top 10, after defeating they are No.18 opponent.

Keeping their winning streak, this defeat was nothing new to the Bobcats. The team was able to sweep the floor over Coastal Alabama-South with a 7–2 victory. Jones now goes 9–0 overall and remains undefeated. Hellen Hernandez played in a good matchup and won 7–6, 4–6, 10–4. Similarly, teammate Guadalupe Tocci from Argentina was able to shut down her opponent (6-1, 6-1). Molly Bennett, Madison Central local, was able to defeat her opponent in a compete shut out (6–0, 6–0). She was not the only one, as Annalyn Housley, and Maggie Savall did the same to the two other Coyote’s single matches.
