Jones Women’s Soccer Sends Six Players to Next Level

Jones College is known for sending players to the next level, and six sophomores for Jones’ Women’s Soccer program signed with new schools on April 30.

In Head Coach Dolores Deasley’s 17 years with the program, the Bobcats have sent 65 players to sign at the next level, including 20 over the last three seasons alone. Here are the six athletes who are heading to new schools:

Avery Saulter and Jewel Hamilton: Tennessee Wesleyan
Avery Saulter, a midfielder and forward, played in 29 career games with 17 starts at Jones, scoring six goals and three assists for JC. She is a two-time member of the school’s academic honor roll and an NJCAA All-Academic Second Team Selection.

Jewel Hamilton, a midfielder, will also be traveling to Tennessee Wesleyan after playing in 31 career games for JC with 14 starts, four goals and three assists.

Jona Hennings: Stony Brook
As keeper at Jones, Hennings went 17-2-1 while allowing only 10 goals. She has an impressive resume, posting nine shutouts, 55 saves and a .846 saves percentage. As a freshman, Hennings went 4-0 in the NJCAA Tournament with three shutouts to earn herself the Most Valuable Defensive Player award. She is a three-time President’s List member at Jones.

Mary Bradley Cardle: Belhaven
Cardle will be staying in Mississippi as she heads to Belhaven. The Ellisville native appeared in 23 matches over two seasons with the Bobcats, scoring four goals along with two assists. She’s a three-time honoree on the school’s academic honor roll and an Academic All-MACCC selection.

Abby Sheriff: Truett McConnell
Abby Sheriff played in 20 career games and recorded nine goals and nine assists in her time with the Bobcats. She also notched two game-winners with JC. She’s a three-time member of the school’s academic honor roll as well as being named a Distinguished Academic All-MACCC member.

Boo Mills: William Carey

Mills will also be staying in Mississippi as she makes her way to William Carey University. She was a starter in 31 of 35 career games with the Bobcats, and is a two-time All-MACCC member as well as a three-time honoree on the school’s President’s List and Distinguished Academic All-MACCC.

Coach Deasley talked about the process of preparing athletes for the next level.

“With a strong tradition of winning and preparing our athletes for that next step-up in their game, we always fulfill our promise to secure quality opponents when moving on from Jones,” Deasley said.

The six athletes led Jones to its first-ever NJCAA Division II National Championship in 2023. Over the last two seasons, the Bobcats had a cumulative record of 28-5-2.
