No. 24 Rebels and Bulldogs Battle in Starkville
The No. 24 Ole Miss Rebels are heading south to Starkville to take on arch-rival Mississippi State in the annual rivalry series. The Rebs claimed the Governor’s Cup on April 22, walking off the Bulldogs in 10 innings.
As the regular season is trending towards the finish line, the games are heating up. Ole Miss sits at 33-15 overall and 13-11 in SEC play, and Mississippi State is 29-19 with a 10-14 record in Southeastern Conference play.
Ole Miss has won 30+ games for the first time since 2022 and for the 21st time under head coach Mike Bianco. They’ve won four SEC series this year, which is also the most they’ve won since the 2022 season. They are one of six Division I teams with 12 or more Quad 1 wins this season thus far. Meanwhile, State is coming off a series sweep over Kentucky where they dominated overall with a 26-10 run differential.
In last year’s series between the two foes, the Rebels claimed victory in a fiercely competitive three games. The Bulldogs shut them out in game one before Ole Miss won the second game in 12 innings. In game three, the Rebels dominated and claimed three in a run-rule win.
