Northeast Hires Former MSU Lineman As Defensive Line Coach

Northeast Mississippi football has hired Trevor Stigers, a former player and coach from all over the state of Mississippi. Stigers will take on the responsibility of guiding the defensive line.

Stigers arrives in Booneville after one season at West Alabama where they posted a 9-2 record, their best regular season in over five decades. Prior to his 10 seasons as a coach, he was a three-year letterwinner at Mississippi State University under Sylvester Croom for one season and Dan Mullen’s first three years as head coach. He appeared in 26 games for State and recorded 32 tackles.

Hailing from Crawford, MS, Stigers took his first full-time coaching job at Hines Community College in 2018. Afterwards, he spent five years at Southwest where he worked as the associate head coach and defensive coordinator.

“We’re pleased with this addition because he’s somebody that I feel really confident in,” said Northeast head coach Greg Davis. “We’re bringing in another person with a quality mindset to our program on the defensive side of the ball. He manages his players and he’s a fantastic technician.”
