Pearl River Makes Experienced Women’s Basketball Hire

Earlier today, Pearl River’s Women’s Basketball team hired a new assistant coach – and it’s one that Head Coach Shanae Govan-Williams is very familiar with.

Quinton Pippen joined the staff today after spending the last couple years with Govan-Williams at Coahoma. At PRCC, his primary roles will include skills and development with the players as well as scouting. In his time at Coahoma he showed excellent player development and mentorship skills, and his leadership helped the Tigers rack up 40 wins in two seasons for the first time in program history.

Pippen is also the founder of No Days Off, a program that trains the youth to a professional level in all aspects of the game. In addition, Pippen created a mentorship program that helps people develop life skills and build character while using basketball as a platform.

Coach Pippen played college basketball prior to coaching at the collegiate level. He first went to Missouri State University-West Plains where he became an All-American, a two-time All-Conference member, and eventually claimed the record as the school’s all-time leader in three pointers. His accomplishments with the program resulted in his induction to the Missouri State West Plains Hall of Fame and his jersey retirement in 2016.

Afterwards, Pippen went to Chicago State University and was once again a two-time All-Conference player. He was also named the 2013 Great West Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Coach Govan-Williams spoke on the addition to Pearl River’s staff.

“We have always spoken about coaching together. He did a great job at Coahoma with bringing a sense of urgency with building our young women up as it relates to skills and development,” Coach said. “He did a great job in our individual workouts, and we saw our student-athletes grow tremendously in their games. With him being a JUCO All-American, we thought he would be able to relate to the student-athletes.”

The new staff hires in the off-season make for an exciting 2025-26 season for the Pearl River Wildcats!
