Player Profile: Northwest Community College Soccer’s Tyler Starnes
As the Northwest Community College men’s soccer team wraps up its season Tuesday, October 28 at 8:00 p.m., sophomore forward Tyler Starnes continues to be a key offensive presence for the Rangers. Despite an arduous year for NW (2–8 in conference play, 6–10–1 overall), Starnes still racked up impressive stats.
Freshman Season Highlights
Starnes quickly made a name for himself as a freshman, starting all 19 games and leading the Rangers in scoring. He notched nine goals and two assists, a noteworthy feat for a first-year player.
Sophomore Season Impact
Building on his momentum, Starnes retook the field as Northwest’s star forward this year. Through 16 games (with one remaining), he has taken 34 shots, 16 of which were on target, for a total of 7 crucial goals. He can also add four assists to his sophomore stats.
Starnes also helped propel Northwest to a 3–1 conference victory over Southwest Mississippi Community College, netting a crucial goal in the 68th minute. In that match, he also led the team in shots (6), tying with teammate Francisco Ambrioso for the most attempts.
