Wildcat Softball Freshman Theriot Wins Gold Glove Award

On Wednesday afternoon, Pearl River Softball freshman Emmaleigh Theriot became the Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner, announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Theriot is the first player in program history to receive a Gold Glove Award.

All 53 games of the 2025 season saw Theriot starting in left field where she played nearly perfect. Over 55 chances, she made only one error as well as recording an outfield assist and a double play. On the other side of the ball, she batted second and held a .285 batting average along with a .392 on-base percentage.

The freshman notched 45 hits, 41 runs, 26 walks and 25 RBIs total in the 2025 season for the Wildcats. She also stole 41 bases which landed her in second place for Pearl River’s single season stolen base records.

Softball Head Coach Christie Meeks sounded off on Theriot winning the Gold Glove award.

“Emmaleigh was a game changer for us in left field,” Meeks said after the award was announced. “She is quiet, confident and consistent. She did so many great things for us this year. For her to get this award is such an amazing honor. I couldn’t be more proud of her.”

The Pearl River Wildcats finished with a 36-17 overall record, their third consecutive season with at least 35 wins.
