The NJCAA Softball off-season is upon us, and players all around the country are making decisions on where they will be continuing their journeys.

In Ellisville, MS, Jones College sent a program-record seven softball players have signed with senior colleges, a huge achievement in itself. Bobcat outfielder Makynlie Jones has signed with Northwestern State to continue her career. Jones was named the NFCA Division II and MACCC Player of the Year in 2025 after putting up a very impressive .445 batting average along with 26 home runs and 103 RBIs.

In addition, Jones notched 35 multi-hit and 30 multi-RBI games, being named First Team All-MACCC, NFCA All-South Region and NJCAA All-Region 23.

Bobcat infielder Meredith Fontenot signed with Spring Hill College after prepping at St. Thomas More High School. As a freshman at Jones, she started 53 games at third base where she hit .351 with nine doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 40 runs scored.

Infielder Makayla Lindsey is headed to Alcorn State after she recorded a .273 batting average and 14 runs scored after two years with the Bobcats. Outfielder Brooklynn Montana and pitcher/first baseman Jayden Sawyer both signed with William Carey University.

Montana started in 54 games in the outfield in 2024 where she hit .320 and notched 11 doubles, 13 home runs and 51 RBIs. Meanwhile, Sawyer set a single season school record as a freshman with 29 home runs before finishing with 45 long balls. She also batted .412 as a freshman and notched 75 RBIs. On the mound for Jones, she recorded a 30-9 record in her two years as a Bobcat.

Sawyer’s tenure as a sophomore landed her an NJCAA All-Region 23 and NJCAA Third Team All-American bid. She was also named Most Outstanding Pitcher in the NJCAA Division II World Series.

Cather/designated players Kaleigh Steverson along with infielder Emma Moore are heading to Belhaven University to continue their careers. Steverson was an All-MACCC Honorable Mention as a freshman where she hit .296 with nine doubles, six homers and 32 RBIs. Meanwhile, Moore started all 52 games as a freshman and notched a .301 batting average.

Collectively, the Bobcats finished the 2025 campaign with a 52-10 overall record. They fought their way to win the Region 23 championship and finished as a runner-up in the NJCAA Division II World Series. In the past two years they’ve accumulated a 91-25 record with two Region 23 titles and World Series trips.
