Bair Breaks Too Many Record To Count

Meet Peyton Bair- the sophomore superstar who just became the national runner-up in the men’s decathlon.

The decathlon is one of track & fields most intense and laborious events. With a combined 10 track and field events, the event needs to be held over two days. The supreme test of athleticism challenges competitors both physically and mentally. The events include everything from sprinting to distance running, jumping to throwing, and forcing athletes to showcase their versatility. It takes the most well-rounded athlete to compete, and especially to perform well.

Mississippi State’s very own, Peyton Blair, was able to end his competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship as the national runner-up with a personal and school record of 8,131 points- crushing the previous school record that had been held for 20 years. His accomplishments do not stop there. On top of racking up two personal and season bests, Bair set a new NCAA Championship meet record in the decathlon 100m by running a 10.30. Showing flexibility, he also placed second overall in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.08 seconds. Outside of running, Bair impressed with his throws by throwing a personal best in javelin and succeeded in pole vault, which he finished third in.

Congratulations to the sophomore star for competing and shining on a national level!
