Crusaders Cruise on in Undefeated Basketball Season

William Carey men’s basketball team is putting on a show, one you want to tune in for. This team shows a strong season start with 6 consecutive wins and no losses.

The Crusaders have maintained their momentum since their opening game, where they defeated Cumberland University 96-83. Eager for a 100-point game, they achieved this goal just a day later by triumphing over Paine College 107-70. Analyzing their first two games reveals that this team is aggressive offensively, averaging 101.5 points per game. On the defensive end, however, their opponents have scored an average of 76.5 points per game against them, which is something the team needs to work on. Nonetheless, this is less of a concern if your team consistently scores over 100 points.

In their following matchup against Talladega College, the Crusaders narrowly secured their third victory with a secound half comeback and final score of 73-67. Talladega College held a 40-31 lead at halftime, but this did not stop the Crusaders from stepping up their game. In the second half, both the Crusaders offense and defense dominated over their opponents, putting up 42 points and holding Talladega to 27.

The team earned their fourth and fifth wins against Louisiana Christian University (90-84) and Blue Mountain Christian University (76-70). William Carey’s most recent and sixth win was against University of Tennessee Southern this past Saturday, where the Crusaders commanded a 84-64 victory.

Not only is the team sitting with an impressive 6-0 opening season, but they are also undefeated in conference play (2-0). They will play local Mississippi HBCU Tougaloo College on November 18th. Tougaloo is on a two game winning streak, putting up 91 points in their last game. To follow this upcoming game, click here: https://careyathletics.com/sports/mens-basketball
