Let’s dive deeper into the Ole Miss Rifle Team. Despite holding a strong No.8 spot in national rankings, this team has been overshadowed by other Ole Miss powerhouse sports.
Currently sitting at No. 8 in the newly released November poll, the Ole Miss rifle team is on the path to make quite the impact this season. With their season start in October, the Rebels sit with an overall record of 4-3 and conference record of 1-1. The team has had extremely difficult matchups, with all seven of their games being against ranked opponents.
In their opening matchup against No. 12 Akron on October 12, the Rebels secured a nail-biting victory with a final score of 4702 to 4694. The following day, they faced off against No. 9 Murray State, narrowly winning by six points, with a final score of 4723 to 4717. However, after these two impressive wins, the team quickly encountered losses against No. 12 Navy and No. 10 Nebraska.
On October 28, the Rebels rebounded with a strong performance against No. 16 Jacksonville State, claiming victory with a score of 4696 to 4658. As they moved into November, they took on No. 4 Kentucky but fell short, with the Wildcats prevailing 4740 to 4714.
In a thrilling match on November 17, Ole Miss celebrated their most recent victory against No. 9 Ohio State, winning by a narrow three-point margin with a final score of 4711 to 4708.
After seven quick matchups, the Rebels deserve a break and will pick their season back up in January. On January 18, the Ole Miss Rebel rifle team will be in Fairbanks, Alaska, where they will complete against Alaska Fairbanks, Akron, and Army in an ultimate showdown.
