DaWgs Earn a Championship Ticket

Mississippi State women’s golf team have punched their ticket to advance to the NCAA Championship after a victory at the Bermuda Run Regional tournament.

In the past couple years, this golf team has been consecutively outstanding. This will be their third uninterrupted season finishing the Bermuda Run Regional in fourth place, allowing them to advance to the NCAA Championship. This year, the team finished with a season best score of 861 (-3). The entire team contributed to this success and earned the statistic of being one of five teams to finish under-par in the tournament. With particularly remarkable performances by Julia Lopez Ramirez and Surapa Janthamunee, the team looks forward to their upcoming time in the national spotlight.

Sophomore Janthamunee earned a career tournament at the Bermuda Run Regional. She had her third career top 10 placement and opened her tournament play with two rounds in the 60s, her first ever back to back 60 rounds. Over the course of the three day tournament, she totaled a 211 (-5) which is the best performance she has recorded in her career thus far. She was able to shoot five-under on five holes at the regional, making her ranked eighth among the field in that light. Similarly, her teammate Julia Lopez Ramirez, had fun at this three round tournament. Ramirez stayed under par all three rounds of the tournament to finish tied for third. After finishing her first day under-par, she also added the statistic of gaining a pair of rounds in the 60s. She kept both of these statistics going, staying under par the next two days, and having five of her six rounds played in the 60s.

The Bermuda Run Regional tournament concluded this past week, and we will watch the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the national spotlight beginning May 17. The tournament will last until May 22 and live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
