Ole Miss Makes History as Regional Champions

For the first time in Rebel program history, the women’s golf team is named the NCAA Regional Champions.

Ole Miss walked away with their first regional title this past Wednesday following their performance at the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional. Not only did they secure a regional victory, but they secured an advancement onto the national stage. This will be the second consecutive year that the women Rebels will make it to the NCAA national championships as well as their fifth time as a program.

This outstanding victory was a team effort, and it was a victory that was long overdue. They shot their best round of the week on their last day as they were tied for second place and six shots behind the lead. This day they shot their lowest 18-hole postseason score in program history of 279 (-9). The rebels also were able to have a 54-hole postseason performance, tying the overall tournament low score of 843 (-21). With both these amazing statistics, the Rebels were able to defeat the defending national champions and became one of five teams to advance.

This record-breaking performance and huge feet for the entire program was a collective effort, but a lot of the Rebel’s momentum can be credited to Caitlyn McNab. She was able to earn her third career medalist finish this weekend due to her terrific performance. She finished this week with 12 -under the individual championship. She was able to finish her final round 67 (-5) and shot 204 (-12) finishing out the regional tournament. She clinched her fourth top five finish of the season and seventh of the career to lead the Rebels to their first regional program win.

The 2024 NCAA women’s golf championship tournament will be held in California from May 17 through May 22. These women hope to keep their good luck going once in the national spotlight.
