Kevin Yu triumphed in the final round of the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship
Kevin Yu Claims First PGA TOUR Victory in Jackson
The 26 year old Chinese Taipei native, Kevin Yu, tasted his first ever PGA TOUR victory in Jackson, Mississippi. The Country Club of Jackson has held the PGA’s Sanderson Farms Championship for more than a decade.
Yu had an overall stellar performance. He clinched the title with a 15-foot birdie on the 18th hole, concluding with a 5-under 67. He then outperformed Beau Hossler in a playoff, sinking a 6-foot birdie to seal his win at the Sanderson Farms Championship on Sunday. The final rounds of the tournament were dominated by the showdown of Hossler and Keith Mitchel, and Yu went unnoticed. This changed quickly when Yu made a pivotal birdie that allowed him to tie for the lead.
With a surge of emotions after his victory, Yu shared, “it’s literally a dream come true. I’ve been dreaming of this moment since I was 5. I think this is the dream for all the golfers, to win on the PGA TOUR. And then I did it today, and I’m really thankful for my parents right now. Without them, I don’t think I could’ve done this.”
Winning a PGA TOUR event is more than just a significant milestone for golfers. It represents the pinnacle of achievement for the sport. On top of financial gain, it solidifies a golfer’s legacy and opens doors for future opportunities in their career. Here, Yu has earned the highest victory, one that all golfers dream of.
Steve Jent, the executive director of the Sanderson Farms Championship, reminisced on the week by stating, “what an amazing week it has been for everyone, including our fans, our title sponsor, Wayne-Sanderson Farms, our tournament sponsors, and especially Kevin. I am confident we will be able to make a significant impact to our community. We look forward to seeing everyone back in 2025 and will announce our new dates in the upcoming weeks.”
Wayne-Sanderson Farms has confirmed their title sponsorship through the 2025 tournament and extended their support beyond the previously announced conclusion this year.
