Meet Jakobe Singleton, a Mississippi born basketball player who is excelling on the court for Hinds Community College. Born in Woodville, Mississippi, the 6’5 athlete has been dominating his sophomore season so far. Currently playing SF/SG, Singleton’s statistics prove he is one of MACCC’s best players. The standout player has been hogging the top line in recent box score statistics.

Hinds’ men’s basketball team has had a decent opening 2024 season. Currently standing at 3-3, they suffered two major losses this past week during their participation in the Southwest Classic Tournament. The team’s three victories were back-to-back performances spanning from November 9th to November 14th. Now let us dive into Jakobe Singleton’s statistic’s in these winning games.

On November 9th, Hinds Community College faced off against Itawamba Community College. Jakobe Singleton delivered a standout performance, carrying his team with 37 points. Impressively, 37 points was more than double the points contributed by any other player in the game- on both teams. On top of  Singleton’s dominance with points on the court, he also excelled defensively. He lead the team in steals (2) and blocks (4). In the paint, he snagged 10 rebounds, more than any of his teammates. He converted 3 of 5 attempts from the three point line, leading the team beyond the arc. This game closed out with a final score of  87-79, in favor of Hinds.

From one high-point performance to the next, Jakobe Singleton continued to deliver on the court in Hinds’ next matchup against Mississippi Delta Community College. Leading his team in points again, Singleton put up 22 for Hinds. Offensively, Singleton led in assists (3) and FT (9-10). Defensively, Singleton led with 9 rebounds alongside his teammate, Auston Ratliff. By the end of the game, Hinds claimed victory over Mississippi Delta’s basketball team with a mere one point victory, 76-75.

Jakobe Singleton’s streak continued, as he put up 29 points against Hinds’ opponent, Piney Woods. His dominance in assists, rebounds, and FT continued. The game closed out with Jakobe leading in all scorers with 29 points and shooting 10-19 from the floor. Additionally, he grabbed 10 rebounds, six assists, and shot 80% from the charity stripe.

Jakobe Singleton is a dangerous player because of his scoring ability and versatility. He can take over a game offensively with shooting, ball-handling, and playmaking, all while making an impact defensively through rebounding and steals. He is a threat on both ends of the floor, a threat more people should pay attention to.
